“Reminiscences of Barra: A Visual Journey” Archives and Arts Exhibition

Notice of change of exhibition period
Due to the installation of new exhibition, please kindly be noticed that the exhibition period of "Reminiscences of Barra: A Visual Journey" Archives and Arts Exhibition will be changed to end on April 21.

The winds of time have brought us to today, as the ship of history sails through the waves. The tumultuous waves of the Age of Discovery have finally turned into a pool of clear water on the shore of Barra district. This secluded spot, born with the tides and currents of the sea, has become the most intact area of maritime history, culture, and industrial buildings in Macao, still exuding the remnants of a port city.

The Cultural Affairs Bureau has carefully combed through the documentary materials, displaying the century-long changes of the Barra district, showing the context of architectural conservation, community development, and cultural promotion. It presents a new urban public vision that is culturally distinctive and sustainable.

MGM, together with the Macao Cultural Development Promotion Association, has collected photography that have focused on the Barra district in recent years. It exhibits 30 works by photographers CHAN HIN IO, LOU KAM IENG, TONG KA and TANG VAI IN. It reproduces the transformation from the 1980s to today, along with the unique historical culture and landscape atmosphere of the Barra district and its surrounding mountains and seas, reflecting the origin and flourishing of public culture and artistic trends in this place.
