Integrated porcelain and steel, this work is the symbol for traditional aesthetics and modern culture hybridity. With an intriguing variety of ovoid surfaces in porcelain and steel, it expresses the Chinese ideals of harmony, subtlety and simplicity. Its high-shouldered, tapered silhouettes and splashed surface design subtly echo those of classic Song dynasty (11th/13th century) vessels seen in the MGM’s collection.
