As a sculptor currently active in both Beijing and New York, Hong Wei graduated from two top art institutions: Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing and Alfred University in New York, where he then starts teaching and making artworks. In 2015, he was invited to serve as a visiting artist at Harvard University, and is a member of the UNESCO International Association of Ceramic Artists. He aroused interest from western art scenes, where Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, The Art Institute of Chicago and The British Museum acquired his sculptures.
