Liu Dan

Born in Nanjing, Liu Dan studied the Confucian classics—poetry, painting, and calligraphy—from his grandfather at an early age, he then followed Ya Ming to further his study in traditional painting. In the past three decades, he has produced an exhilarating legacy in the medium of ink. From monumental landscapes to large-scale and multi-faceted portraits of individual rocks, wide variety of his works are collected by numerous art museums. The artist has also been regularly featured in noteworthy solo and group exhibitions in Asia, Europe and the U.S., such as Metropolitan Museum of Art and British Museum.
