Alter Ego is an exploration of this seminal idea exercised through the expression of contemporary art. Through 6 different exhibitions spread across the city of Macao, it delves deeply into the intricacies of the construction of the self in order to expose the true nature of its relationship with the other, as well as with the outside world in general. Working as a sort of analytical mirror, it takes the viewer on a visually striking journey that also acts as a catalyst for internal introspection and evaluation, resulting in an experience that is as aesthetically rich as it is internally moving.

ART IS PLAY invites guests of all ages to embark on a journey of awakening, self-discovery and social interaction through play. It features colorful art installations by five international artists, including Cindy Ng from Macau, Ayumi Adachi from Japan, tomtom from Hong Kong, Camille Walala from the United Kingdom, and Janice Wong from Singapore, who together inspire the fun and playful side of every visitor.

MGM presented a major exhibition of new monumental work by Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos specifically created for the Grande Praça at the heart of MGM MACAU. China’s 5,000 years of civilization reflect the nation’s profound and enduring achievements. Among these are compelling cultural traditions like red sandalwood carvings, a high art form regarded as one of China’s most important. To commemorate the 15th Anniversary of Macau’s Handover to China and to help promote traditional Chinese culture, MGM MACAU was honored to invite representatives of the China Red Sandalwood Museum to present the Red Sandalwood Art Exhibition of Old Beijing City Gates. With the theme of “Creations Across Time”, the exhibits recreated the bygone charm of Beijing through the medium of sublime red sandalwood craftsmanship.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France in 2014, MGM actively promoted the development of the jubilant arts festival,“Le French May 2014” arts festival in Asia by exclusively sponsoring the Biennial of the Lions, which made its debut appearance in the region. MGM presented 50 colorful, unique lion sculptures dressed elaborately by 50 French and Chinese artists. These artworks were displayed throughout MGM’s public spaces, marking the beginning of a cultural journey inspired by the artistry of the lion.
