Co-presented by MGM and Christie’s Hong Kong, Liu Ye: at High Peak brings together over ten paintings by the Chinese contemporary artist Liu Ye who is at the crest of his career today. Guided by a series of modern Chinese poetry curated by Kevin Ching, Christie’s Chairman, Asia, the exhibition illuminates the pivotal role poem plays in Liu’s works. Born in 1964 to a literati family, Liu grew up reading Mayakovsky's ‘staircase poetry’ and Andersen’s fairytales, both informed his artistic practice as one of the most sought-after Chinese contemporary artists of our century. It is hoped that the selected poetry will resonate with some of the thoughts and feelings one may have while viewing Liu's works.

MGM presented the latest monumental installation “Valkyrie Miss Dior” by renowned contemporary Portuguese artist Joana Vasconcelos as part of the collateral exhibition for "Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023". The masterpiece is the latest artwork in the Valkyrie series, following the limited time appearances at the Dior autumn-winter 2023-2024 Ready-to-Wear show in Paris and Shenzhen, MGM COTAI is proud to be the first stage to present the artwork to the public.

MGM presented "To Infinity and Beyond: The Art of Hsiao Chin" special exhibition, an unprecedented large-scale immersive exhibition, showcasing the vibrant and colorful universe of philosophies and artistic life of the Modern Abstract Art Master, Mr. Hsiao Chin, perpetuating the vitality of art and dynamic spirit of Infinity and Beyond. It is one of Special Exhibition of “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2023”.

The MGM Special Exhibition Awakening is one of the core activities of “Art Macao: Macao International Art Biennale 2021”. Curated by Calvin Hui, the exhibition draws from the cultural symbol of the lion and interprets through contemporary art, in response to the longstanding historical and cultural roots and to demonstrate our cultural confidence in the post-pandemic era.

Ink has played a pivotal role in Chinese history and culture, and it remains as relevant today as it did over 5,000 years ago. 2019, Macao Special Administrative Region Government launched a mega international arts and cultural event “Art Macao”. MGM invited contemporary artists Ma Wen and Yang Yongliang to presents a modern artistic ink experience, Hua Yuan.

MGM presented “Celebrating Life – Ju Ming Living World Sculpture Selling Exhibition”, this exhibition showcased the internationally renowned artist’s Living World series at MGM COTAI and exhibited over 40 pieces of unique wood carving work of Ju, including painted wood, black and white painted wood, as well as wood relief sculptures. Living World series is one of the most iconic series of Ju Ming, inspired by his multicultural experiences and with over 30 years of development, Ju Ming applies both traditional and contemporary materials, such as wood and stainless steel in this series; and out of all, wood carving sculpture is the most significant, for Ju carves directly on log piece with his signature sharp cutting strokes that create one-of-a-kind works.
