Looking to experience a more authentic side of Macau and gain a deeper sense of its everyday neighbourhood life?

Starting from April 25, MGM joins the “Leisure Bus · Community Discovery” programme in support of the city’s community revitalisation efforts. Operating every Saturday and Sunday, the free shuttle departs from MGM Cotai and MGM Macau, connecting travellers directly to popular local districts including Barra (A‑Ma Temple area), Kong Tou Temple, San Kio (Three Lamps), Iao Hon and Patane. The route makes it easy to plan a relaxed journey that combines photo‑worthy spots, local dining and cultural exploration. Along the way, more than 30 participating local merchants offer dining privileges and shopping discounts, inviting visitors to experience Macau’s character as a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy.

The enhanced shuttle schedule features increased frequency and additional stops, allowing convenient travel between Cotai and Macau’s urban districts. Whether departing from Cotai or the city centre, the service is well-suited to short weekend getaways or same‑day trips, offering a comfortable way to explore Macau at an unhurried pace.

Local Food Trail|Iao Hon & San Kio

For travellers looking to experience everyday Macau through food, this route is well worth exploring. Located near the Border Gate, Iao Hon is home to the Iao Hon Public Market cooked‑food centre and long‑standing local cha chaan tengs, offering a snapshot of Macau’s daily dining culture. Further along in the San Kio district, often referred to as “Little Myanmar”, the neighbourhood brings together a diverse mix of Southeast Asian flavours, from Burmese and Thai restaurants to hidden independent cafés. The area’s layered cultural atmosphere makes it an ideal stop for food lovers keen on a one‑stop street‑food exploration.

Kong Tou Temple Night Market & Patane Food Complex

The areas around Kong Tou Temple and Patane are well worth a visit for those drawn to Macau’s evening street‑life culture. From 6:00 pm onwards, the Kong Tou Temple night market becomes most lively, with traditional snacks and nostalgic game stalls creating a distinctly local atmosphere. During the daytime, Patane Food Complex offers an easy dining stop, bringing together a wide range of international dishes and well‑loved local favourites, all set against scenic waterfront views. Together, the two stops make it easy to enjoy daytime dining and evening exploration in a single route.

Creative Neighbourhood Walk|Barra & Nam Van

For those drawn to creative spaces and photo‑worthy streets, the route through Barra and Nam Van is well worth adding to the itinerary. The free shuttle runs directly to the Barra district, where local art spaces, independent concept stores and cafés sit among historic streets, creating a distinct neighbourhood atmosphere. The journey continues to Nam Van Lake, where a lakeside promenade invites an easy stroll, especially at sunset when the area becomes a popular spot for photography. Unhurried and approachable, the route suits couples and friends looking to explore Macau at a relaxed pace.
