As the Lunar New Year approaches, Macau is transformed by lanterns, festive lights, and fireworks into a city glowing with celebration. Nowadays, reunion dinner is more than simply gathering around the table – it is a homecoming of flavors and emotions, and this sense of ritual begins with a thoughtfully crafted festive big bowl feast.

The prototype of the art installation comes from the residency show Macau 2049. With almost a year to design and polish, this “Lion” microparts various cultural elements from around the world including ancient Chinese jade, Egyptian sculptures, and pixel aesthetics. It is composed of 3,988 “gold brick” pixels, executing the mechanical flipping through advanced control systems and data programming.
