January 10 - MGM ADDS NEW ELEMENTS TO LEARN & PLAY! TEAMLAB FUTURE PARK

[Wednesday, January 10] Following an overwhelming response for MGM’s latest exhibition Learn & Play! teamLab Future Park, the resort is delighted to bring in new interactive attractions titled A Table where Little People Live as well as Sketch Town at MGM Art Space for locals and tourists, just in time to celebrate the New Year! People of all ages are invited to discover the new horizons of the digital world of Learn & Play! teamLab Future Park, where they can thrive on their creativity through the interactive digital experience.

Taking full advantage of the digital technology to create interactive installations that emphasize audience participation and co-creation, Learn & Play! teamLab Future Park will now consist of five interactive settings: A Table where Little People Live, Sketch Town, Sketch Town Papercraft, Graffiti Nature – Mountains and Valleys and Light Ball Orchestra.

A Table where Little People Live – New!

In this installation, little people run across the interactive screen of a tabletop around which children sit or stand. Children are encouraged to interact with the little people by placing objects on the table. As each object is introduced, the movements of the little people change; they interact with the objects by jumping, climbing, and sliding onto them.

Sketch Town – New!

Sketch Town, a town that grows and evolves according to the pictures drawn by children, is presented in January and February. After the 2-D drawings of the cars, buildings, UFOs, and spaceships are completed, they are scanned into 3-D images and enter a virtual 3-D townscape. Every component of the town has a role to play; for example, the fire trucks and cranes serve to protect the town. Children can interact with the final townscape by touching individual components to alter their behavior.

Sketch Town Papercraft

Pictures drawn in Sketch Town can be turned into unique 3-D papercrafts, which children can take home. The process of creating 3-D objects helps children understand spatial perspective. This process also links the translation of the 2-D drawing into the 3-D object, breaking down the barriers between the digital and the physical. This activity involves problem solving skills and logical thinking, as children have to identify where to cut, fold, and glue.

Graffiti Nature Mountains and Valleys

Graffiti Nature is created by you. The more animals and flowers that you draw and color, the more this nature world expands around you. Your drawing is somewhere in Graffiti Nature. Can you find it? Animals are eaten by other animals, but if they do not eat they will die and disappear. When the animals that you draw eat other animals, their numbers increase. Butterflies increase in places where there are flowers. All are part of one ecosystem. If you step on crocodiles too much they will die. If you stand still flowers will blossom around you. If you walk around, the flowers will scatter. Search for your animals, and whilst making the flowers bloom, explore the world that everyone has created.

Light Ball Orchestra

Rolling a light-ball changes its color and sound. Combined, the light-balls form an orchestra. The overhead balls communicate with the other balls; touch one and the surrounding balls will be affected, changing the color of the entire space. Roll the ball in front of you and it will change color and release sound. In the same space participants use their bodies, touching the different-sized balls to change the color of the space and make music.
