MGM Concludes “Silk Road Art Feasts” Series with “Celebrating for Beijing”

After a two-year culinary and cultural journey along the Maritime and Overland Silk Roads, MGM’s “Silk Road Art Feasts” series will conclude on August 13 and 14 with its grand finale, “Celebrating for Beijing”. Presented at Enchanté, MGM MACAU, the event will feature Li Qiang, Chaozhou Cuisine Consultant of MGM MACAU, and Ivan Li Xiao Lin, the second-generation successor to Family Li Cuisine, a culinary tradition recognized as part of the intangible cultural heritage of Beijing. Their collaboration will pair the meticulous artistry of Qing imperial cuisine with Chaozhou cuisine’s reverence for premium ingredients and natural flavors, bringing the celebrated series to an elegant and memorable close.

Family Li Cuisine traces its origins to the Qing dynasty, when its founder served as a senior official in the Imperial Household Department during the reigns of the Tongzhi and Guangxu emperors. Drawing on imperial menus preserved by his family, Chef Ivan Li carries this distinguished legacy forward, reinterpreting the culinary traditions of old Beijing and the Qing court for contemporary diners. Family Li Cuisine earned two MICHELIN Stars for two consecutive years, while Chef Ivan Li received the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants awards, further cementing his international reputation. “Celebrating for Beijing” marks his second collaboration with MGM, following a four-hands dinner at Imperial Court at MGM MACAU in 2023. Chef Li Qiang trained under Lin Ziran, a revered master of Chaozhou cuisine. With deep expertise in refined Chinese cuisine, he is known for his exceptional knife work and precise techniques, which allow the natural character of the ingredients to shine. In 2025, Chef Li Qiang was named to the Forbes China Top 30 Chefs list. His other honors include the title of Global Ambassador of Chaoshan Cuisine.

Beijing, the historic heart of Qing imperial cuisine, once served as an important hub linking the Maritime and Overland Silk Roads, while Chaozhou was a vital gateway along the Maritime Silk Road in the Lingnan region. Reflecting these connections, the “Celebrating for Beijing” menu presents a culinary dialogue between north and south, land and sea. Jointly created by the two chefs, Double-Boiled Supreme Chicken Soup with Cuttlefish Ball draws inspiration from “Watermelon Tureen”, a Qing court summer dish. Chicken broth is gently simmered inside a hollowed watermelon and served with hand-pounded Chaozhou cuttlefish balls, elegantly bringing together the two culinary traditions. Chef Li Qiang’s Baked Dried Yoshihama Abalone in Supreme Sauce features prized abalone baked in a rich, savory sauce until tender, while Chef Ivan Li’s Shredded Chicken with Bird’s Nest pairs premium bird’s nest with chicken meticulously hand-cut into strands as fine as silver threads, creating a delicate, silky texture.

Inspired by traditional Chinese textile arts, Enchanté combines classical elegance with contemporary luxury, offering an artful and culturally rich dining atmosphere and an elegant setting for this exchange between two master chefs from northern and southern China. On the opening day of the event, MGM will welcome Li Dadong, a senior artisan specializing in the national intangible cultural heritage craft of cloisonné enamel for a live demonstration at the restaurant. Guests will have the opportunity to experience the brilliance and craftsmanship of this celebrated tradition up close, while gaining a deeper appreciation of the cultural heritage and historical imagery behind “Celebrating for Beijing”.
