Six-Hand Banquet: The Pinnacle of Chinese Culinary Aesthetics
MGM proudly presented the grand finale of the Maritime Silk Road Culinary Art Feast - Homecoming to the Capital, in partnership with Golden Phoenix Tree China Restaurant Guide of Phoenix Net Gourmet Channel and Da Dong Group.
Contemporary Chinese cuisine virtuoso Dong Zhenxiang, Executive Sous Chef Yang Dengquan of Five Foot Road at MGM COTAI, and Executive Chef - Chinese of MGM MACAU Homan Tsui at Imperial Court came together to showcase the finest elements of Beijing, Sichuan, and Cantonese cuisines, featuring an array of land and sea delicacies, Silk Road spices, and fine Chinese tea and wines. Through the aesthetics of porcelain, harmonious color palettes and Silk Road-inspired imagery, the dishes conveyed the depth of history and artistry across the table.
Vision of Master Chefs: Perfect Convergence of Tradition and Creativity
Dong Zhenxiang: Also known as Da Dong, the creator of yijing cuisine combines Chinese ink-painting techniques with Eastern and Western color theories to reinvent Chinese culinary aesthetics. Signature dishes such as Dadong Style Grilled Sliced Duck Pizza , offering a unique take on a time-honoured flavor.
Yang Dengquan: At Five Foot Road, Chef Yang has been carrying forward the essence of Sichuan flavors for more than four decades, staying true to the principle of “one dish, one style; a hundred dishes, a hundred flavors”. One highlight of the Culinary Art Feast was the Braised Canadian Steak with Wild Swollen-Stalked Cat Mushroom, Pork and Chili, a fragrant and soulful dish rooted in Sichuan culinary heritage.
Homan Tsui: A master in Southern Chinese cuisine, Chef Tsui of Imperial Court excels in creating hand-crafted dishes. For this banquet, he presented the bespoke Fried Macau Sole Fillet with Bean Paste and Pepper, echoing the aesthetics and flavors of the Silk Road.
Perfect Pairings: Tea, Wine, and Porcelain
The dinner was accompanied by carefully selected wines from the Legacy Peak Estate in Ningxia, China - Chardonnay Jin Yu and Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot Kalavinka, complementing every dish in perfect harmony.
The dining room of the restaurant was adorned with four traditional Chinese colors and handmade Suzhou embroidery, creating an exquisite Oriental ambiance that echoed the philosophy of yijing cuisine and the Silk Road culture. While savoring the delectable dishes, every guest was fully immersed in art and history simultaneously.
The “Gastronomic Journey with Star” Chef series continues to bring together celebrated chefs from around the world, using food as a universal language to unite cultures and flavors across the dining tables of Macau.
