Invited by prominent high-fashion designer Guo Pei, renowned Chinese cross-media artist Wang Kaifang combined wind power experiments and 3D printing to capture the surreal movement of silk flowing in air in this monumental installation. 80 craftsmen worked tirelessly for 100 days to transform 24 tonnes of stainless steel and 80,000 sheets of 24k gold leaf through 3 million strikes of hammering and 1.8 million joints to weld. Integrating digital art into traditional Chinese craftsmanship, ∞Harmony illustrates the oriental perspective of the universe.
Circulating and extending, ∞Harmony resembles the role of Macau as an essential node city in China’s “One Belt, One Road” Initiative, and demonstrates the adventurous ambition of contemporary Chinese art. Materializing a temperate yet ubiquitous energy, it manifests the harmony among heaven, earth and man, and symbolize the glamorous marvel of the upstepping “One Belt, One Road Initiative” as a graceful entrance to fortune and prosperity.
