It Begins with the First Beat
Learning lion dance rarely starts with movement. It begins with posture, breath, and the hesitation before striking the drum for the first time.
At “The 11th MGM Junior Lion Dance Summer Class 2025”, one hundred children spent the summer practicing footwork, rhythm, and coordination—discovering that lion dance is not simply a performance, but a shared practice built on trust and repetition. For them, heritage became something lived through sweat and sound.
From Practice to Watching
The final showcase was not an ending.
After completing their training, the young lions watched "The 12th International Lion Dance Championship 2025 – MGM Cup" held on October 4–5 at Barra Square. Seeing professional teams compete offered a new perspective—revealing how precision, rhythm, and discipline push the art form forward.
Beyond the Stage
"Lion Dance Festival 2025" (September 27–October 12) expanded the experience into public space, bringing together teams from China, Japan, and South Korea. Here, lion dance moved beyond competition, becoming a cultural form open to interpretation and dialogue.A Season Still in Motion
From first lessons to international stages and Lion Dance Festival, this lion season unfolded as a continuous practice.
Lion dance endures not because it is preserved, but because it is learned, watched, and practiced—again and again.
