This work takes the calabash as its central motif, drawing on its homophonic association with "Fu Lu" (blessing and prosperity) to convey the traditional symbolism of auspiciousness and completeness. The composition is grounded in a calm golden-brown palette, combined with mottled textures and vertical linear elements. The calabash form is rendered in concise blocks of golden yellow, creating a quiet, meditative atmosphere with a sense of Zen. Huang Guanyu is dedicated to integrating Chinese and Western artistic traditions through art, continuing the exploratory spirit of his mentor, the great master Wu Guanzhong, particularly in the pursuit of "formal beauty and Eastern artistic conception." Elegant in tone, the work embodies an artistic realm where Eastern symbols intersect with contemporary painting language, while also conveying a hopeful wish for enduring good fortune.
