
The lion, emblem of MGM, is revered as the “King of Beasts”, symbolizing courage, resilience, power and majesty. Originally native to Africa, Lion is introduced to China via the Silk Roads and gradually became an auspiciousness guardian of good fortune, captivating cultural charm between East meets West. Biennial of the Lions are created in 2014 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between China and France. MGM invited 50 cross-disciplinary Chinese and French artists to design 50 lion sculptures infused with cultural and creative essence.
