MGM MACAU inaugurates its “MGM Art Space” with a spectacular exhibition featuring Florentine Renaissance artist Sandro Botticelli’s life, legend, legacy and his enduring masterpiece, Venus, a true Italian work of art, which can be viewed for the first time in Macau at the “MGM Art Space”. The painting is one of the most significant works that came out during the Renaissance period, the golden age of the arts and the epitome of artistic revival.

About Botticelli

Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi, better known as Sandro Botticelli (ca. 1445 – May 17, 1510), was an Italian painter of the Early Renaissance. He belonged to the Florentine school of artists under the patronage of Lorenzo de' Medici. Botticelli was the undisputed master of line. He knew more than any other Renaissance artist that it was possible to create poetic and romantic artworks of extraordinary beauty from a clean, pure and unsullied line.

Elevating art experience to the next level, MGM MACAU has especially recruited as many as 52 university students and trained them to become qualified and knowledgeable docents. They have been stationed throughout the MGM Art Space to explain to visitors the historical context and significance of all the exhibits, leading them towards a greater understanding and appreciation of fifteenth and sixteenth-century art.
